About Athena
Athena Stevens is a writer, actress, and entrepreneur
The brainchild of Athena Stevens, Never Walked High Heels was born out of a need and desire to see a confident, intelligent, and sexy young woman with a physical disability in publishing. Splitting her time between London and the Mohave Dessert, Athena experiences every possible sector of life on a daily basis, from working in the West End as an actor to not being allowed on a bus due to discrimination. She hopes that by publishing her essays three times a week, she can invoke thought, debates and awareness.
Athena owns her own company, Aegis Productions, which she uses as a vehicle for artistic endeavors and cultural change. She was raised in Lake County, Illinois, and graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina. She regularly works with members of the Royal Shakespeare Company and RADA. Her first book will be out in late 2010. Her next play The Amazing Vancetti Sisters will be premiering in London during August 2010.
The essays and ideas reflected here are one hundred percent Athena’s, and come directly from her life. She is well aware that they will cause dissent and sometimes even discomfort among her readers. No matter. She is no stranger to controversy, and as she would be happy to tell you, “Well behaved women never make history.”
